Le Chene Vert is to be found in a peaceful hamlet in the heart of SW France in the Haute Vienne department of the Limousin. Situated 6 ½ hours drive from the major french port of Calais or 15 minutes from Limoges airport. We can be found between junctions 26 and 27 of the A20 auto route. Click here for details |

Our central location makes Le Chêne Vert an ideal base for exploring further afield. The theme park Futuroscope is an hour away at Poitiers. Le Vallée de le Singe (monkey valley), Limoges aquarium and the resort lakes of St. Pardoux and Vassiviere can all be found within easy reach. Other attractions can be found on our LINKS page |
The regions' Capital, Limoges, is only 10 minutes by car. This is the centre of the French porcelain industry and many factory shops selling the famed Limoges china can be found here. You can spend the day looking round the old town by the river Vienne, or browsing round the shops. The newly opened Family Village on the outskirts of Limoges is worth a visit and there is also a weekly market in the town centre. During the summer months local towns and villages host "Vide Greniers" and "Brocantes" (antique markets/boot fairs) where many bargains can be found. Festivals celebrating cider, chestnuts, beer and other local produce are also regular occurrence. The music festival on 21st June sees open air concerts and the occasional fireworks displays. The best known festival is Bastille day on the 14th July (a bank holiday in France). This is a good excuse for a party and almost every village or town will have some sort of celebration arranged. This usually includes an open air dance/disco and of course fireworks. No expense is spared and they are normally fantastic displays.

The region offers many attractions so your holiday can be as active or as relaxing as you chose. The nearby lake resort of St. Pardoux (10km) has 2 beaches and offers motorised water sports, pedalos and a fantastic adventure park in the trees. (Suitable for adults and children). The main beach has a fantastic all year round play area for the kids and bouncy castles in the summer months. We would also be pleased to arrange activities such as horse riding, hot air ballooning and off-roading experiences at an extra charge. |  |
Montrol Senard, the beautiful museum village depicting life from times gone by, is a short drive away. On a more somber note, Oradour sur glane, site of a nazi massacre is also close by and makes for an interesting visit.

There are many beautiful walks to enjoy through the countryside and you will be able to spot the local wildlife including red squirrels, deer, wild boar and buzzards to name a few. In the autumn the highly prized mushrooms Cépes and girolles can be found growing amongst the undergrowth. |  |
